The typical person is not aware that there is money that can be gained online. From most people's point of view, the internet is a venue for communicating with friends and family from all over the world, for leisure, and for entertainment. One way of earning money online is through sites called PTC or Paid to Click sites. These sites have a number of advertisers that pay PTC websites to advertise their products. In order to reach a potential target market, PTC websites need members to click on these sites and view them. The members also add to the income generated by PTC websites by paying an amount to upgrade their accounts. So generally, PTC sites have two potential sources of income: 1) From the advertisers and; 2) From the paying members themselves.

Although, most of these PTC websites offer free memberships, members do have the option to upgrade their accounts. A free member can usually earn more if they upgrade their account because they can click more ads. Another source of income for PTCs as I have mentioned earlier are from members who upgrade their free account. Those members who have found a PTC site to be profitable and reliable are most likely to upgrade their accounts. There are many advantages to upgrading an account. Each website has different promotions so it's better to check on them individually and see for yourself what benefits it can give you. One piece of advice, do not be in such a hurry to upgrade your account. Make sure first that the website really pays before you invest. Better safe than sorry!

How do you earn from PTCs?

If you are a standard (free) member you can earn by clicking on websites that the PTC site pays you to view. When you surf the ad, a timer will start and you are given a minimum amount of seconds before the timer expires. Once the timer expires that view will be credited to your account. Most PTC sites offer 1 cent per click and some others even lower than that. If they offer a highly pompous amount like $5 or $10 per click with a $10 bonus for signing up or something like that, then it's probably bogus and you can write it off as a scam site.

Each website has different number of ads per day. Some website can have ads as many as 20 or some as few as four. It doesn't really matter how many ads are available for clicking, the more important thing is how much they pay for each ad you click. For example, a website has 5 ads per day and pays 1 cent per click. At the end of the day you have around 5 cents. 5 cents per day multiplied by 30 days so you get an average of $1.5 (i'm speaking in dollars) per month. Let's say you have just 5 referrals who signed up under you. On some PTC sites they offer 50% per referral click or 0.50 cents. So you get an average of $1.5/month from your clicks and $3.75/month from your referrals. You have a total of $5.25/month from just having 5 referrals. Now imagine if you had around 10, 20, 30, 50, or 100 referrals! Well, I'm sure you can do the math! Imagine what earnings potential you have for extra income everyone month! It won't make you rich but you can earn a lot.

How do you maximize your earnings?

The best way to maximize your earnings is to get as many referrals as you can. There are two options where you can get many referrals. First type that I'm going to share with you are what they call Rented Referrals. These are referrals that you rent out from the admin of the PTC site and they assign them to you to be your referrals. You have to pay a certain amount of money in order to rent these referrals. Depending on how many referrals you want to rent, each PTC site has an equivalent amount of money that you have to pay.

The second and most recommended way is to get Direct Referrals. They could be your real life friends, online friends or anyone who might just happen see your referral link for a certain PTC site and sign up for an account. This is the best way to get referrals because it's free.

How do you get direct referrals? There are so many avenues. 1) Invite your friends if they are in interested; 2) Post a link on your website or blog; 3) Send a message to all your friends in myspace or facebook; 4) Send a message to all those in your email's address book; 5) Write a blog about PTCs; and the list goes on and on. How you market it will best depend upon your creativity.

What PTC sites are legit?

There are so many sites out there. The question is which ones are legit? I have done some extensive research on these sites that I'll be mentioning below so I'm sure that they paid and will pay. I have to say this disclaimer though, THESE SITES CURRENTLY PAY THEIR MEMBERS HOWEVER THIS STATUS CAN CHANGE ANYTIME.

How can it change? Because there are websites out there that started out as legit and once their profits started to dwindle or when they have already scammed many people, they'll bail out. So as I have mentioned earlier, be careful about investing your money. Make sure that you don't upgrade your account or invest on PTC sites until you have proven for yourself that they really pay. It always pays to be extra careful. I don't want you to be added in the statistics of those who have already been scammed.
